Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt photoshoot part 4: Stocking Anarchy

Hi all!  I know you guys have been dying for this...(lol not), I'm finally going to post my pics for our PSG photoshoot by Jack Liu.  My character is Stocking Anarchy, she is "Panty's younger sister, Stocking is a pink and violet-haired goth girl. She is generally more level-headed and intelligent than Panty, although she can be just as rude as her sister when provoked. Stocking has a gluttonous appetite for sweets and doesn't gain weight from consuming "normal" sugary foods, allowing her to eat them to her heart's content — on the other hand, she despises spicy food. She becomes enraged whenever someone tampers with her sweets or calls her overweight." --> according to wikipedia.  (I thought I'd provide a little synopsis about the characters since there were some confusion with certain individuals who made a huge deal out of our photos.  </drama>)  Of course, I'm nothing like Stocking, okay, maybe just the appetite for sweets and doesn't like spicy food part...all else is pretty true.  Q_Q

I confess that I have cheated for this cosplay, I didn't make that dress, it was altered from something I bought off of certain website...that may or may not start with the letter B and rhyme with "decline".  Why is it such a taboo anyway to buy a dress and alter it?  For those who I have offended by doing so, I apologize >.> it might happen again when I'm lazy.

Onto the photos:
Honekoneko...no stitches on his head >o< I'm sorry~

The carpet in Katsucon is so pretty!

Stocking is abusive towards both Honekoneko and Chuck

This one is my favorite!

This was supposed to be the "moe" shot lol  Jack said that "some people like the knee" <.<;;;;
That's all~  we are working hard on our costumes, so there will be updates coming soon~  btw my stocking wig is from Cosplay Wigs USA if you are interested.

PaSwG Photos - Part 3!

This post continues to feature our Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt photoshoot with Jack Liu.  Again, you are awesome Jack!

For this photoshoot, I got to be Chuck.  Mimi devised a sweet little plan for me to be a human interpretation of Chuck in about 30 seconds.  Once the "zippers", collar, tail, and ears were accounted for, I was basically good to go :D.  Now unlike Mimi and Kathryn, who posed with much elegance and glamour, I got to be as un-photogenic as I wanted, haha!

Oh yeah, work that camera :P

That's right, half-smile like you own the world!

And finally, the shot that made my leg hurt for a while DX:
Ah, the PISS-de résistance, Oui oui! (sorry, that was an awful pun series)
That concludes my wonderful Chuck photos.  Thanks again to Jack, and to Mimi for coming up with the idea and helping me make the outfit! :D.   I believe Mimi is up next with her close-ups of Stocking :)

Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt Photos... Part 2!

And now for the solo shots! I apologize in advance for what you are about to see. Mimi and I both had props, hers being Honekoneko, and mine being...uh...panties. Yeah. So, thanks again to Jack Liu, our wonderful photographer! Let the awkwardness commence!

Awkward sexy pose is awkward.

But you know what's even more awkward? Panties.

And you know what's even more awkward than that? The maintenance workers who were off camera and wouldn't leave or stop staring at us. Also, you can't tell from the pictures, but wearing those shoes made me feel like I was standing in a nest of angry hornets. For three hours.

Trying to mask the feeling of agonizing pain in my feet.

This was taken right after I accidentally threw my underwear in the photographers face. I'm sorry, Jack. So, so sorry. >_<

There is an explanation, really. He wanted me to try spinning them around my finger and get cool motion shots. Well. I'm not very coordinated at spinning panties around my finger, so they kind of...flew off. In a certain direction. Sigh.

You'd think it couldn't get more awkward. Well, it just did. CLOSE UP TIME.

And the most awkward thing about running around carrying panties while dressed as Panty Anarchy is the implication that I was NOT WEARING UNDERWEAR. Except I was. Wearing underwear. Okay, just crossed the tmi line. Going to go die in a corner now.

And with that finished, I am never writing the word panties again.

Soul Eater Photoshoot - Complete!

After a torturous wait of many moons (okay, it was barely a month), we have our completed Soul Eater photoshoot from Katsucon 18! Thanks so much to the wonderful Elysia of Fenyx Design, the pictures are fantastic!

Eruka perched atop Tadpole Jackson, who is looking rather well in this photograph, considering that at this point his face was falling off.

Eruka and Tadpole Jackson, a.k.a. the very best chair there ever was. Rest in Peace, Tadpole Jackson.

Dr. Stein turnin' the screw.

Stein, don't you know cigarettes are bad for you?

Medusa in what looks to be a sea of blood, how fitting. Oh good, my freaky backwards-bending elbow made an appearance.

Them's fightin' words! Stein and Medusa prepare for epic pose battle to end all pose battles.

Pretty sure this is Stein disemboweling Medusa. Either that or I am having a seizure.

Vogue poses, with Eruka looking decidedly fashionable, and Medusa looking oddly pensive for a manipulative psychopath.

Medusa choking Eruka, again. Now, now, Medusa, that's not a very nice way to treat your peons.

Our trio poses dramatically and hopes not to get stepped on by passers-by. Also, glasses lens flare ftw.

The rest of the album can be viewed HERE. Thanks again to Elysia of Fenyx Design and to the Gaylord National Convention Center (snrk) for having what is likely the most photogenic venue ever.

Cosplay Restaurant/Cafe, is it too weird for America?

Akiba (Akihabara, 秋葉原), Tokyo -- The mother planet of everything Otaku is the birth place of Cosplay themed restaurants.  This trend started around 1999 as a uniform genre Doujin gathering.  Eventually, restaurants and cafes that feature maids, butlers, and even Gundams started to appear in Akiba and other areas of Tokyo.
The topic of Maid Cafes has been talked about by various sources.  If you would like to find out more about it, I suggest reading this article on Wikipedia.  If you would like to know which Maid Cafe you want to visit while in Japan, read this article from CNN.  If you are stuck in a country outside of Japan, and would like to see what Maid Cafe is actually like, I suggest YouTube as a good source for videos.

Now, back to my topic for the day : are cosplay restaurants/cafes too weird for America?  The answer at this point is probably "No" for a convention or some places in California, and "Yes" for the rest of the country.  Even at a more otaku-friendly environment, such as an anime convention, the views on Maid Cafe are not always positive.  This could be caused by many reasons, but one reason definitely relates to the objectification of women.  It doesn't take a genius to realize the sexual implications behind maid cafes.  In a society where people fight furiously to end the sexual objectification of women, the concept of Maid Cafe can be anything but welcome.
literally objectified...lol
If you have been reading this blog then you would know that we attended Katsucon 18 this year.  One of the con events at Katsu is a all volunteer Maid/Butler Cafe.  The particular Maid Cafe was featured in an article on Washington Post (HERE).  I thought the article was pretty well written, and definitely reflects some of the American sentiments toward Maid Cafe.

Obviously, in order to successfully operate a Cosplay themed restaurant in the US, one has to do some intense market study and make changes to how the place can be operated.  For example, Maids/waitress address their customers as Masters in Japan.  In the US, that is probably something to be abandoned in order to avoid protests (this cafe opened in California has done so).

The question that still remains in my mind is, how is a maid cafe any different from Hooters?  They both objectify women and provide food related services.  Additionally, maid cafe might even be cleaner and more kids friendly.  Anyhow, I'm going to stop here and let you formulate your own views about having cosplay themed cafes in America.  Would you go to one if it was opened near you?

Comment below if you have views that you would like to share!

Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt Police Edition!

We did two sets of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt cospaly in Katsucon 18 this year.  One of them is the normal outfits which was shot by the very talented Mr.Jack Liu with a preview up in his Flickr account.  Poor Stuart was getting kicked around by us because he cosplayed as Chuck, or also known as the fake GIR from Invader Zim.  The second PSG outfit we did was based off of episode 8, where Panty and Stocking are police officers trying to fight off zombies.  Since we didn't have an amazing photographer for this outfit, we kind of just took some pictures (with our fantastic photographer-in-training-Stuart) and stole some from Johnny's facebook (he was the awesome Garterbelt).  I, being the impatient person I am...just quickly shopped these pics for kicks.

our police baton (if you watched the show...you would know it's true identity) thingie were bubble wands, so we made some bubbles to annoy people :D

we are a little too old...but... PEDOBEAR~ hell yeah!

Stuey getting stepped on by EVERY FUCKING PERSON!  We didn't go to step on him because we felt bad...NOT

This picture was taken from Johnny's facebook album.  Obviously, it made us look better than what we actually look like XD

This is totally for the lols.  I vectored the hands in really quickly XD

Anyhow, this is all we have to offer for our police outfits, I hope you enjoyed them~

Katsucon 18 Lolita meet-up

Lolita fashion is awesome!  Puffy dresses, cute hair, and lots of ways to coordinate.  I have been to ONE local lolita meet-up in 2011, but despite all the rumors regarding how self-centered lolitas can be, I loved everyone of the girls that was at the meet-up.  The same can be said about the girls I met at Katsucon couple days ago, although I spent most of my time talking to about three people total, I still had lots of fun socializing and looking at people's coordinates.  I think one of the most important thing to do at a lolita meet-up is to be open-minded.  If you go in thinking that everyone else is going to judge you because you are not wearing burando, then you will not have a good time.  The whole point of going to a meet-up is to make friends, why would you go if you fear judgement?

Anyhow, here are some of the lovely pictures Stu took for us.  He was stuck with a fixed lens, so he had to hide in a corner to take pictures XD.
