Open Cosplay Photoshoot Day 1

These photos were taken last February 19, 2012 during the Open Cosplay Photoshoot organized by my good friend and assisted by yours truly. (Although I was not a big help :p)

It was  supposed to be an exclusive photoshoot with Tekken characters but then an idea came up and I suggested it to be an open shoot where everybody can dress up any character they like. I expected a handful of cosplayers will show up but a lot of people contacted us, asking to be a part of it. After so many adjustments, scheduling and online meetings, we decided to ask for help from other photographers. Gladly, a team volunteered to be a part of it and all went well on the day of the shoot.

What happened on that day?
I'll tell you what happened on the first and second day then the final shots. I was one of the photographers of the second day so I got to practice a lot with nice cosplayers.

I was Ichigo Kurosaki on the first day and part Misa Amane on the second. :D

FIRST DAY
Here I am with Light Yagami.
Okay so I lead all the foolishness on the first day. LOL. Here's a few shots behind the shoot.

This sexy girl beside me (her back IS SEXY) is Lara. She is so nice, she gave me a  Death Note for my birthday.

Bea and Jet. Jet here saved us when we got lost. :D

With my partner in crime doing foolish poses. Meet Bernice!

I don't know what we're talking about but I love this shot. I call it "The Wig Family".

Prep time! I was combing Ciara's wig when Ate V took a shot of us. Ninja Ichigo blending in with the shirt? :)

All jokes aside, here are the final shots of the first day of the shoot. I can only post my Ichigo photos here. For the other shots, click here.

Series: Bleach
Ichigo: Cee
Inoue: Nouf

FINALLY! I got to be Ichigo Kurosaki of Bleach. The wig was bought about a year ago, never knowing when I will actually cosplay the character. The sword was made by my dad. I showed him a photo of it and VOILA! He made it in about a week. Then I had the Bankai costume made for a cosplay event last December but sadly it was not pushed through. When I was actually giving up on cosplaying him, my friend came up with this cosplay shoot. Since it was not a themed shoot, I decided to go as Kurosaki-kun. :)

It was fun that day. Especially when my friends threw a surprise party for me for my birthday. Yaay! Imagine Ichigo in a party hat. (Nevermind, here's a photo of it. :D)

Jev asTsunayoshi and Cee as Ichigo
Well, it was nice seeing a few familiar faces and meeting new ones as well. Widening our cosplay friends circle!

Yeah, I know how to destroy a photo. Take the last one as an example. :D

Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt photoshoot part 4: Stocking Anarchy

Hi all!  I know you guys have been dying for this...(lol not), I'm finally going to post my pics for our PSG photoshoot by Jack Liu.  My character is Stocking Anarchy, she is "Panty's younger sister, Stocking is a pink and violet-haired goth girl. She is generally more level-headed and intelligent than Panty, although she can be just as rude as her sister when provoked. Stocking has a gluttonous appetite for sweets and doesn't gain weight from consuming "normal" sugary foods, allowing her to eat them to her heart's content — on the other hand, she despises spicy food. She becomes enraged whenever someone tampers with her sweets or calls her overweight." --> according to wikipedia.  (I thought I'd provide a little synopsis about the characters since there were some confusion with certain individuals who made a huge deal out of our photos.  </drama>)  Of course, I'm nothing like Stocking, okay, maybe just the appetite for sweets and doesn't like spicy food part...all else is pretty true.  Q_Q

I confess that I have cheated for this cosplay, I didn't make that dress, it was altered from something I bought off of certain website...that may or may not start with the letter B and rhyme with "decline".  Why is it such a taboo anyway to buy a dress and alter it?  For those who I have offended by doing so, I apologize >.> it might happen again when I'm lazy.

Onto the photos:
Honekoneko...no stitches on his head >o< I'm sorry~

The carpet in Katsucon is so pretty!

Stocking is abusive towards both Honekoneko and Chuck

This one is my favorite!

This was supposed to be the "moe" shot lol  Jack said that "some people like the knee" <.<;;;;
That's all~  we are working hard on our costumes, so there will be updates coming soon~  btw my stocking wig is from Cosplay Wigs USA if you are interested.

PaSwG Photos - Part 3!

This post continues to feature our Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt photoshoot with Jack Liu.  Again, you are awesome Jack!

For this photoshoot, I got to be Chuck.  Mimi devised a sweet little plan for me to be a human interpretation of Chuck in about 30 seconds.  Once the "zippers", collar, tail, and ears were accounted for, I was basically good to go :D.  Now unlike Mimi and Kathryn, who posed with much elegance and glamour, I got to be as un-photogenic as I wanted, haha!

Oh yeah, work that camera :P

That's right, half-smile like you own the world!

And finally, the shot that made my leg hurt for a while DX:
Ah, the PISS-de résistance, Oui oui! (sorry, that was an awful pun series)
That concludes my wonderful Chuck photos.  Thanks again to Jack, and to Mimi for coming up with the idea and helping me make the outfit! :D.   I believe Mimi is up next with her close-ups of Stocking :)

Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt Photos... Part 2!

And now for the solo shots! I apologize in advance for what you are about to see. Mimi and I both had props, hers being Honekoneko, and mine being...uh...panties. Yeah. So, thanks again to Jack Liu, our wonderful photographer! Let the awkwardness commence!

Awkward sexy pose is awkward.

But you know what's even more awkward? Panties.

And you know what's even more awkward than that? The maintenance workers who were off camera and wouldn't leave or stop staring at us. Also, you can't tell from the pictures, but wearing those shoes made me feel like I was standing in a nest of angry hornets. For three hours.

Trying to mask the feeling of agonizing pain in my feet.

This was taken right after I accidentally threw my underwear in the photographers face. I'm sorry, Jack. So, so sorry. >_<

There is an explanation, really. He wanted me to try spinning them around my finger and get cool motion shots. Well. I'm not very coordinated at spinning panties around my finger, so they kind of...flew off. In a certain direction. Sigh.

You'd think it couldn't get more awkward. Well, it just did. CLOSE UP TIME.

And the most awkward thing about running around carrying panties while dressed as Panty Anarchy is the implication that I was NOT WEARING UNDERWEAR. Except I was. Wearing underwear. Okay, just crossed the tmi line. Going to go die in a corner now.

And with that finished, I am never writing the word panties again.

Idol M@ster Photo Shoot!

A few years ago, Hoshi invited me to join her massive idol m@ster group. We had everyone, a grand total of 12 girls xD In the same year , we also performed 2 idol m@ster dance routine. It was difficult to get the steps right but on hindsight, I think we all had fun xD

Due to the sheer size of the group, getting together for a photoshoot proved to be difficult. Which is why, 3 years later , this is still the only proper solo picture I have of my Makoto Kikuchi !

I grew tired of waiting and decided its high time I do some house keeping and do a proper shoot with some of my old costumes before they end up flaking and peeling like my Eclair and Tifa Lockheart. Yes, bet you didn't know I cosplayed Tifa Lockheart before because I barely had any pictures xD !

So I endeavoured on a blackmail and threaten persuasion mission to get Gin, Maria and Yuanie to don their old costume again.

Another reason why the shoot dragged for so long was the difficulty in finding an appropriate place for a shoot. Since the girls from iM@s are duh, pop idols and the costumes we have of them are their stage costume. It didn't seemed right to place them in a non stage environment. All in all, we were stuck trying to find a right location and finding a photographer!

And that was when Dee from Cheezz invited me to have a shoot session with their newly opened studio! Talk about timely!

Cheezz Studio is a self portraiture studio that sets itself to be a conducive environment for anyone and everyone to well, take pictures of themselves! Pretty unique idea isn't it ?

A few years back, I also had a similar business concept which I obviously didn't work on. So when Dee from Cheezz emailed me, they immediately caught my attention.

Strangely enough, despite having similar business concept, I still found myself with scepticism. I mean, you mean I stand in front of a camera, pose and take photos of myself by MYSELF??!! Awkward much! Frankly, I wasn't sure if I would have fun but heck, I needed some proper pictures of Makoto and we went ahead!

And we were all pleasantly surprised!

We were told it was an enclosed private area with a vanity table, changing room and all. But we didn’t quite expect the place to be so well equipped, easy to use and cosy!

There was also a “Music booth” corner xD. The moment Yuanie found out there was an iPhone dock to blast music, she wasted no time volunteering her phone xD

I can’t believe I placed my black heart shaped brooch on the wrong part of the collar >.< And I once again, forgot to bring her earrings and bangles =(

It was kind of awkward to openly camwhore at the beginning but our craziness soon kicked in and warmed up to the idea. And in the 1.2 hour we were there, we managed to spam over 300 photographs xD !

Before we knew it, it was time to return the remote control.

All in all, it was a really fun session! Not just because of the photo taking but because of the mini bonding session. We had so much fun just being silly and trying out different props and poses! The variety of props really helped spice things up xD.

Even though I was invited by Cheezz Studio this is not an advertorial and I don't earn anything in return. But regardless, I think the entire self portraiture concept is really cool and comfortable. I use the word comfortable because as I’ve mentioned previously, the studio was ours alone during the shoot and it was a really cosy and private space that allowed us to explore all the poses we’ve never had the chance to. Damn that sounds wrong! LOL!

I mean, I’ve cosplayed for quite a period of time and I’ve watched quite a bit of modelling reality programme *gets bashed*. And this was the first time I could actually put all the posing tricks I’ve learnt to use. Of course it’s not like I can’t utilise posing techniques with a human photographer. It’s just that when the camera is perpetually in a static position and you’re in charge of the shuttle, you know exactly who to compliment when the photo comes out good. You’re totally in control! Open-mouthed smile

IMG_1991

Of course the studio has it’s limitation. Most notably the stationary position of the camera and limited backgrounds. But nevertheless, it is still a studio that offers a very unique service xD

Cheezz should seriously come up with some Valentines Day or Gal’s Party package soon. I would love to ‘buy’ a session for a girl friend’s birthday and I’m sure Boyfriends would score pretty high if he planned a session at Cheezz for an Anniversary or date XD.

OMG I can’t believe how long I spent doing this entry! Scouring through the 300 over photos and editing some of them @_@. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy the photos as much as we enjoyed taking them. Comment and share with me which photos are your favourites xDDD
