MCTV MOVIE MANIA 2012 Report (Part 2 of 3 - Day One)

The second cosplay event by Mindanao Cable: THE MCTV MOVIE MANIA 2012! Went with mamang aka Stage Mom. LOL. (IMAGE HEAVY, PEOPLE!)

Cee as Gogo Yubari

Cee as Gogo Yubari from Kill Bill Vol 1. Only two people identified me as Gogo. So I am guessing most of the congoers are puzzeld as to who am I cosplaying. :D

Chiaki Kuriyama plays the role of Gogo Yubari in the film Kill Bill Vol. 1
Why Gogo Yubari?
Gogo is Oren-Ishii's (Lucy Liu) personal bodyguard in the movie Kill Bill Volume 1. She was a crazy girl of seventeen who fought Black Mamba (Uma Thurman) in the house of the Blue Leaves. I cosplayed Gogo because I know that kids my age don't know Kill Bill and I guess cosplaying the character will promote the VERY AWESOME MOVIE.

I had so much fun that day! Everybody did a good job in portraying their characters. Some people were amazed by my weapon and asking where I got it. Well, I DID IT with the help of papang! I am so happy that they appreciated my hard work.

What happened that day?

We arrived just in time for the ANIME category cosplayers to do their catwalk
Well, we arrived late! Not actually late for the competition, but late for Optimus Prime and Iron Man. After arriving, my friends told me that earlier, there was an Optimus Prime and Iron Man mascots who graced the event with their awesome moves and poses. I was like "NOOOOOO!!" and I learned my lesson and from now on, I will go as early as possible. Maybe next time they can get Kaname to visit the event and I shall be the first girl to have a photo of him with me. LOL.

Spectating was my plan at first...
Well yeah, I originally planned to be a part of the audience and cheer for my friends. I did prepare for Gogo Yubari but I was not totally sure if I will be able to join the competition. Luckily, we did not have any hospital duty that day! YAAY! I was practically jumping up and down after receiving a message from my dutymate that the duty that day was cancelled. :)

Anyway, here's what happened on that day...
Since I was already there, I pulled out some of my friends and other cosplayers to take photos of them. :D

Sheila as Cruella De Vil
Edz as Katara of The Last Airbender
Jev as Kasumi of Dead or Alive
At last, Azumi arrived! She was Baby Doll of Sucker Punch. I am totally in character here.
The Rodriguez siblings went as the Bleach group. Made me want to go as Ichigo on the next day. >_<
I think I'm watching the real Sucker Punch movie. O_O
 And then, THE CATWALK!
Azumi's catwalk! She did great and she really looked like Baby Doll that day!
Azumi was part of the first batch of Movie Cosplayers
First batch of Movie category
How I did in the catwalk? Well, I REALLY DON'T KNOW! I did not practice that part so I just imagined Gogo Yubari and did her moves and expression (laughing and getting angry). So if you saw my catwalk/skit, PLEASE DO tell me how I did it for I was out of my mind when I was doing it. LOL.

Gogo Yubari catwalk
WAAH! I really don't want to see a video of my catwalk. >_< I can imagine myself laughing and getting mad, waving the manriki like hell and jumping up and down.

Second batch of Movie category
Picture taking time!!
After the catwalk, me and my mom started to take photos of the other cosplayers. What's the use of going there if you don't have any photos of the, right? :)

I think you can identify some of these characters.

BAH! I was tired of being in-character all the time. LOL. I can't smile when I wanted to so what I did is to "play" with my friends during the event. :D

Here I am posing with Jeff for a few fight scenes. :D
Nah, we ain't enemies. We're friends. :D
Then I started photobombing for kicks. :D

I learned that when you are an antagonist of a film, people will start on asking you to do torture poses on other people. :/
So the following photos ain't my doing. The ASKED me to do it. :DD

Torturing Hitler:

And then, torturing some random guy from the con, which eventually became my friend. :D

Mom had her photos taken with some cosplayers too. :)

I met new friend that day. Meet Michelle! :)

~Overall, it was an awesome experience! I had soo much fun that I did not get to pay attention to the program proper. My friends were awesome in portraying their respective characters.
~Thank you for reading and watch out for the third part of the MCTV MMIX report!

MCTV MOVIE MANIA 2012 Report (Part 1 of 3 - Costume)

THIS IS IT! After how many weeks of being "dormant" (nah, I was just very busy with school work that I got no time for blogging) I shall be reborn and be an active blogger again. To start with my new blogging life, here is my report on the recent MCTV EVENT: The MCTV Movie Mania 2012!

As you can remember, I wrote an article on this event a few weeks ago. I was just going to witness the event and cover it for a post but an unexpected thing happened - and it turned out to be one awesome event for me.

Originally, I was supposed to go late, 4PM actually because of my duty, and just watch the awesome cosplayers do their thing. Then, something really AWESOME happened. I will tell you that on the second part. :p

So let's start with how I created my costume. :)
This is what I needed to achieve.
This is my Gogo Yubari Costume:

A teaser photo of my complete costume, posted last December 31.
Let's break down the pieces of my costume.

So first is the coat and the inner white shirt. This was a recycle of my old costume. Remeber Yui Hirasawa?
Yui Hirasawa of K-On!
So yeah, the navy blue blazer and the white shirt was similar to Gogo's uniform so I was pretty lucky. Having a tailor to make my blazer will cost a lot so it was a good thing that I had Yui's uniform. I printed out Gogo's seal to complete the blazer the upper part of the costume.

Next is the skirt. We were not able to find the fabric with the exact so we bought the closest one we can find.
Mom made my skirt. YAAY! Ain't she sweet? So that's the closest fabric we can find. Not so close, yeah, but we got no choice!

Then the ribbon. I made it by my self. I had little knowledge in making bows so I hand-sewn my Gogo bow and attached it to a red ribbon to tie it around my neck.

AND FINALLY the manriki! Or Gogo's weapon. Well, this was a challenge for me since I never ever (in my life) made a weapon and the manriki was a little bit difficult to make since it was a unique weapon.

This is what I wanted to achieve:

These were my raw materials:

Two dog's leashes, clasped together and a styroball. I joined the ball and the chain together, and stuck out push pins as the spikes around it. My dad helped me with the handle - it was a PVC pipe and it was stuck on the other end of the chain. I painted it with white acrylic pain first before spray-painting it silver. This was done to prevent the ball from melting.

Yeah, I made a mess after painting the ball.
I lost count on how many coats I painted on the ball. But it was thick enough to protect it from melting.

And now the final product!!

People kept on asking me where I got my weapon. I proudly said "I MADE IT!" And some where amazed. Phew, that made my heart fly. LOL.

For the shoes, I had a pair of white sneakers that was perfect for the cosplay. Yaay! Did not have to spend for it. I bought the white socks to complete the cosplay. I did not took a photo of it while I was trying it out so watch out for the photos of me wearing it on the day of the event. :)

~This ends the first part of my MCTV MOVIE MANIA 2012 report. I decided to cut it into three parts so that I can really write everything without turning one post into a novel. LOL.

~Thanks for reading and watch out for the second part VERY SOON.

~HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

See you there!

WMSU Palaro 2011 - Cosplay Competition

I just recently knew about this so forgive me for the lack of updates. Yes I am a member of the Nihon Fure Ai Kai but sadly, I was not able to attend the meeting for this year’s WMSU PALARO. I got infos about this from a friend.

The Nihon Fure Ai Kai (A Touch of Japan Club) will be hosting a mini cosplay competition open to all starting Monday, December 5, 2011. Participants are to submit a photo of the character they are going to cosplay. Voting system is the basis to select the winner. Most number of votes will win a prize.

Will you be joining, Cee?

Sadly, no. I won’t be able to join since I did not know such an event exist until yesterday. I was planning to cosplay Misa Amane but I lack preprations. (L) AND I was chosen to be the head of the Movie House. I guess I can’t go walking around WMSU while managing the movie house. OH WELL, maybe I’ll cosplay next year’s palaro.

Visit Nihon Fure Ai Kai’s booth!! I am still not sure what room we were assigned to but it will be definitely at the College of Nursing. See you there!

MCTV's AWESOME OTAKUFEST 2011

Hello there, dear readers. This entry is all about my first cosplay convention. I did not win anything, but I had a lot of fun. :)

MCTV'S AWESOME OTAKU FEST 2011
The event was held on the 11th of June, 2011 at the Astoria Hotel Celebrity Hall. The event started at 2PM. The hall was packed! Cosplayers and enthusiast were already taking photos of each other and showing off poses and smiles when we arrived. It made me feel that we arrived a litte late even though it was abour ten minutes before two o'clock.

I was the gothic version of Haruhi Suzumiya.

My cousin was Mio Akiyama from the ending song "Don't Say Lazy".

My classmate Azumi as Misa Amane of Death Note.

Just after claiming our IDs, we were spotted by my college buddies and took these photos:

Ritsu was just behind us. And the guy in the blue shirt looked like he is faster than a speeding bullet. :D

A few photos from friends. :)

Mikee with Misaki of Maid Sama!

Photobucket
They just met that day and it looks like Mikee and Azumi are already friends. :D

Photobucket
Me: Mikee, give me a Mio Akiyama pose.
Mikee: *posed

Photobucket
Yep. I think these two are meant to be good friends. :)

Photobucket
Now it's my turn. And we totally covered that Inuyasha tarpauline. Good thing the ANIMAX logo was is still visible.

Photobucket
Oh look, it's Aisaka Taiga!

Photobucket
I think the number of con-goers were just right. Not too few, not too crowded. We can still move around the hall and take photos of the event.

Photobucket
This is a good stolen shot. :)

Photobucket
Posing for a shot with a couple of con-goers. But not the signature pose of the Gothic Haruhi. Too bad. :( I was a scatter brain that day. This was my first cosplay event.

Photobucket
Playing with the camera while waiting for the JPOP karaoke to start. Those collections were awesome!

Photobucket
These yummy cakes from TSOKOLATE were the prizes for the cosplay competition.

Photobucket
More collections...

Photobucket
...and more poses! :)

Then I decided to take more shots of the venue and event:

Photobucket
The stage looked wonderful! It made me nervous on what I was going to do later on...

Photobucket
Azumi with Misaki. Azumi looked good in pink. :D

Photobucket
Azumi now posing with Ritsu.

Photobucket
Now I feel more like Haruhi Suzumiya with this pose!! :)

Photobucket Photobucket
Looks like everyone is having fun. :D

...Azumi gave up and sat on the floor.

There were no chairs to sit on and our shoes are killing us!

So...
Photobucket Photobucket
...Mikee gave up too! She sat on the floor hiding behind the balloon decor.

And so, after a few minutes, the cosplay event started!
Each of us did great on the catwalk...
