Special 12 Nights of Christmas

Heartwarming magical times and adventurous new year to you all! I heard that today, December 25, until January 5th 2012, begins special 12 nights of Christmas. The dream you see every one of those nights corresponds to the coming 12 months and shows what you should pay attention to next year.

I had a sweet start to this. Last night I was browsing through a magazine and saw an advertisement for a movie called 'Fairy'. I dove into the picture. In the fairy world, the bad fairies had won and all the good little fairies were flying in a line to a point where they all, one after another, exploded into shards of glass.

It's a dark and rainy night. All the good fairies pop through a portal on top of a skyscraper and they look like 17 year old kids with black clothes. A bit confused, they still proceed in a line, with determination.

I see the view expand from the rooftop to above the city. I see the buildings, city center, then move over the suburbs and finally over the beach and the ocean. I watch the horizon. It's so beautiful I almost start to cry.

A man is squirming in an office, about to report results to his boss: in about 48 hours a tsunami will come from that horizon.

The good fairies didn't know this yet, but now I know why the bad fairies won and the good ones got pushed here to us - their destiny is to save the world, within the next 48 hours.

'Fairy', soon in a movie theater near you!

:)

PS. I'd like to thank all lovely flowers for the gifts you gave me, I LOVE THEM!!!!!! So many dreams came true I didn't even know I had them all!!!!! I'm excited to play with all my new toys (literally!), wear all my new things and fairify my house with all the art and decorations! Merci! Danke! Kiitos!

Beings Who Love the Feeling of Magic

My friend Nina with whom I lived many years ago in Finland appeared in the back of my van last night. Legs crossed and smiling, wearing a beautiful and shiny light blue dress, she held three antique dice in her hand. She told me to watch carefully as she threw each, one by one, on the cloth we sat on.

Each dice rolled slowly until the number '1' was facing up. She looked at me smilingly, then grabbed all the dice and rolled them again. Again, number one, on all three of them. One, one, one.

She giggled and smiled warmly. She told me that she's not trying to impress me or anyone else. She said the trick itself is insignificant. What matters is the atmosphere of magic that surrounds her when she does such things.
"I just like to feel magic around me."

Like Nina in this dream of mine, I love to feel surrounded by mystical warmth, vision and a kind of cosmic playfulness too. Sometimes I fall into the deep clarity of it, and sometimes into the unexplainable creative power of it. This is wherefrom I draw my inspirations and the personal strength to dance through this sometimes gnarly world.

When do you feel magic around you? I feel magic when

  • I see dreams that I know hold some special meaning or guidance, like this one with the dice (although I'm not exactly sure of it's full meaning yet)
  • I'm absorbed in meditation, prayer or kirtana (kirtana means playing instruments and singing mantras - my main magic trigger being the Hare Krishna mantra)
  • I get something out that has been bubbling under like a poem, song or a drawing
  • I'm alone in nature
  • I get a realization, philosophical or practical, or both at the same time - it's definitely magical and feels like a gift from above
  • I connect with another person on a deeper level, even if it's just for a few seconds when my eyes meet theirs in a grocery store, or when someone sends me an email that touches me
  • I'm the vehicle that serves another person by connecting them to a magical experience, for example by kirtana

Now I'll stop here - I told you some of mine, let me hear yours! :) Let's pour some Magic on this mousy internet!!

PS. I found the fairy goddess photo of Nina after I saw the dream - she's conveniently wearing light blue, too! The art in this post is all made by her. Look at what she did to her TV! She calls it "TV humiliation". LOVE IT!!

Will I Ever Have Kids? ::and:: Bohemian Baby Names

I had this dream of me holding a baby. It was my baby and I knew that he was going to die. I didn't mind -- I knew that's just the way it was. I was ok with it. I put the baby down and talked with some friends. Occasionally I checked if the baby had died already. This dream had a very real feeling to it, like those dreams that indicate future, have omens and are important some way. When I woke up I couldn't understand what it meant.

Later that day (yesterday) I went to a doctor and it came up on the side of a regular check: I can't have kids. Or at best, it would just be way too risky to even try. So all you friends and people asking me, suggesting to me, politely hinting, straight out saying I should already, or saying for sure your hormones will kick in and you'll want some soon, and naming me women who didn't want kids at first but towards their 30s had to have them -- nope there will be no little omwoodses running around. Just this one. (I mean, to be clear, me.)

Fairy Baby by Enaid
Perhaps this is TMI (too much information) but it's my diary after all so I felt like talking about it. Honestly, I never wanted kids nor have ever handled them very well longer than 10-15 minutes. I find children a bit scary, psychologically, how they demand you to play with them all the time and it's like, there's no other way. And they're just, I don't know, dominating creatures and I can't get into their head. Cute and precious as they are! :)

So still I actually cried a couple of times when I was alone, after hearing this news. I don't know why. It was like some female reflex and some emotions came up that I never knew I had. It was weird. It's all good now. It got me thinking, what else is there. What is inside of me that I have no idea or control of (as of yet). Or outside of me for that matter. Surprising things happen in life. Unexpectedness. I think it's beautiful. You can never know. You can always adapt. You can always learn new perspectives.

Anyway. I figured I might reveal my long cherished list of baby names to the world that I kept just in case I might need it - but more just for the fun of it. Heehee! So it's all yours to take. Something tells me my choices would be a bit ahem, avant garde?

GIRLS:
Pearl Amanda
Sandhya Rain (Sandhya means evening in Sanskrit)
Dawn Matilda
Moon Autumn
Beth Cinnamon
Ruby Angel
Lucy Millicent
Sulka (feather in Finnish)

BOYS:
Nanda (son in Sanskrit)
Madhu (sweet in Sanskrit)

Well there are more, this was 'the best of' :D Oh tomorrow will be a nice day - I'll meet Ninni who contacted me after reading my blog and we'll get together and hoop! She actually hasn't hooped before. There is something happening in Arabianranta in Helsinki with lots of music, art, buskers, street theater, etc. all day and I think we'll head there. You have a sweet day too! ♥

How to Make a Dreamcatcher

This tutorial is a guest post written and photographed by my sister Kaisu. She's the head elf of the Dreamcatcher Making Academy, located deep in the enchanted forests of Finland. She holds a PhD (Pure Heart of Dedication) degree in mystic craft sciences of the north. :)

Find a Fresh Branch

First you find a branch (fresh, so it won't break). If you have a special tree you are friends with ask if it would give you one and remember to give something back to thank. If you don't have a special tree you are going to ask, before you enter forest, offer it a small (or big, depends what you want) present and tell what you are after. Don't assume that you can just go and take what you need. But remember, that most trees are happy to give! Nature likes to provide. Don't take too big branch from too small tree. You can observe what the trees nature is and what sort of features you want to your dream catcher. You can see, when the tree really wants you to take its branch, it will snap easily.

While Threading, Meditate

Then make your branch to somewhat a circle. Teardrops are just fine. This is really easy, when you have your circle roll thread around it like in a picture (you start going right and the thread goes over and comes under and from left). And continue the same. Very easy, but you can make it to second level by meditating strongly with every "knot" spot. Concentrate on the meaning of your catcher also.

In this pic I'm pulling thread towards me (it looks like I'm pushing). When you have done the first round go on doing the same.

By making loose and tight you can make different shapes (loose and in the end tight creates stars/flowers, all the time tight is like a fishers web). Some pearls as dewdrops.

Stop rather too early than too late, thread the thread up and make it for example a hanging eye. You can add a clam to the center or a pine cone or whatever you can do what feels like doing.
