Bohemian Romantic Pregnant Faery Fashion in the Snow

My sister Minna photographed the cover and eight page spread for the Finnish baby magazine 9 Kuukautta, or '9 Months'. Faerie girl Mani modeled her own natural, bohemian, feminine designs as well as jewelry and a couple pieces of clothing from Oona Elena of Moonalia.

These photos are so stunning I'm not going to even say anything except OMG OMG WOW OMG beautiful amazing lovely wonderful magical magical OMG!! Respekt for Minna for capturing the moments and lots of warm exciting wishes and congratulations for Mani and Flo for their baby girl about to arrive.

More photos on Minna's page. And for God's and Goddesses sakes, like her on FB! While you're at it, like me too, if you'd like :) Much slushy snowy love.

Ewa i Walla :: pleasant peasant fairy clothing

Ewa i Walla is a Swedish designer lady and her clothes are Fun or jätte kul should I rather say. They're not for sale anywhere in the US though. But what I do is I just look at these pics and get inspiration to dress in similar style using whatever clothes I find in my closet. Today I was inspired by this photo:

And wore this:

Here's more Ewa i Walla stylez:

Past Few Weeks in an Elongated Nutshell

It’s been a while! A few weeks ago, while I was reprezentin’ in da bedroom of my Adventurous South Philly Residence, I heard five or six gunshots in da street, rite outsyde my windowz. Already I never went out after dark because it just wasn’t smart and now this incident lead me to hide behind the refrigerator while drinking orange juice every morning, just so some random bullet wouldn’t reach me through the windows. Yeah.

An elf from Los Angeles was looking for a place to stay in Philly area because he fell in love with a fairy there. We checked out a couple of house candidates for him on the New Jersey side, and on one of our trips we stopped by at a psychedelic mall.

Then it started making more and more sense to look for a place to fit both of us since I had developed a desire to try to make it out of the hood. Elf’s friend Jason hooked us up with a realtor party guy Jon who hooked us up with an utterly lovely apartment in Northern Liberties which is a pretty hip area near downtown and South Street where I work. We made cupcakes last night.

Carole gave me those awesome princess glasses. And yes, what you see on the right are, indeed, surprise tickets Elf got for us to the Beats Antique show that blew me away last Thursday.

LOL, at work the other day I noticed two girls acting a bit suspicious. Sure enough, as they left the store, there was an empty hanger and a ripped price tag in the dressing room. Elf was visiting the store at the time and we both started running after them. Long story short, the gorgeous black lace shirt was duly rescued and I got a good exercise. Here’s your deranged sales person. I’m watching you.

Sooo back to the new Home. I’m continuing the tradition of picking up other people’s garbage as awesome treasures. Just look at this Mesmerizing Steampunk Case. Oooh.

But also we picked up a few things from a large Swedish furniture store, such as this couch that doubles as a guest bed.

Yesterday at a Sustainable Living Roadshow event I heard interesting things about GMO. To mention a few numbers, 86% of all corn and 90% of all soy are potentially extremely dangerously and for sure unethically and just plain unnecessarily genetically messed with in America right now.

Although GMO seems a big and scary thing, there are really only five countries in the whole world that grow GMO large scale. Those are USA, Brazil, India and Canada. I forgot one, maybe China. So there is definitely hope. Just buy organic whenever you can and tell your friends and family to educate themselves in these matters too.

LOL, the speaker noted that McDonald’s “isn’t known for being the most ethically driven company” but still thanks to McDonald’s, there are no GMO-potatoes in the world. In Europe the ghastly company started using GMO-potatoes in their french fries and the customers protested. The ghastly company said ok, we’re not buying GMO potatoes anymore. And so everyone stopped growing them. Yay. ?! Kinda sorta!

Right now there are people walking from New York to Washington DC, 300 miles, just to bring awareness to the fact that GMO foods are not labeled in the USA. And if they were, people would naturally choose the GMO-free. You can sign an excellent petition here: www.justlabelit.org.

That’s it for now. I was planning to go hoop to City Hall here in Philadelphia, there’s an occupation going on, much like on Wall Street in NYC and in 1000 other cities across the world. I’ll take pics :)

Exciting times! Have a magical day! Om

Enough Heroin For One Day

I roamed around the sunny but snowy Helsinki and got a few things a several things all the things I've been dreaming of for months now (that will remain secret for now hee hee). Well after the craziest shopping splurge in my life ever I tried to reduce my consumerism footprint and had a soulful session at the busy Helsinki subway station. With Kaisu we sat down in a nice spot, on warm blankets we brought, and played jouhikko (that Kaisu played here too), drum and harmonium and chanted Hare Krishna and sang some Native American music. We had Krishna books and magazines out too. You know, the usual, ever-expanding, ever-fresh total bliss.

I must say chanting is more satisfying than shopping. But new clothes are fun too of course. Until they get old and you get bored and want some new ones again. Pretty temporary pleasure. But repeatable. I guess that's the problem - material attachments that bring you back again and again, life after life, to run after things that won't indefinitely satisfy you anyway. Somehow my desires are not on the same level with my brain. Hmmmm... Aummm.... :D

At the station we bumped into Kaisu's friend at an interesting heroin spot (see the text on the board). Helsinki representing.

A moment earlier Kaisu had found a fascinating rock.

Oona Elena :: Maker of Tribal Fairy Fashion

Oona Elena makes gorgeous, romantic, tribal elf princess clothes and accessories. Her partner Mo makes jewelry and together they travel and adventure around Europe and Asia. She is also visiting Finland now so we talked a little about her art.

Oona and Mo recently started an Etsy store, Moonalia, and they have another website with some of their creations on it too, Elftreasurebox. Also you can friend Oona on Facebook - she often posts new clothes and jewelry there.

Goodness Gracious the skirts above and below are to dye for :) Oona actually dyes fabrics herself!

Kyanite Tiara, made by Mo. All their creations are unique. And so pretty. We made some trading and Oona will make a couple things for me that I'm going to love love love forever!

Collage I Made of Things That I Love

I made this collage for the IHEART Project. Micaela from The Drifter and the Gypsy will make an e-book that contains a whole bunch more of these from people who signed up for her project. The topic was simple: IHEART - things that you love, or, heart.

So as you can see I tried to fit all types of aspects of my heartingfulness into this. You'll see a hooper chick, if you look closely. And of course, some compulsory fairy magic, a passage from the Bhagavad-gita, dance, meditation, Earth, and some pretty things, etc. Just click on it and you'll see it bigger.

Oh and yes, I heart YOU too :)

My beloved husband (who just happened to call me as I took this pic) dumpsterdived me 10 brand new lipsticks recently. So I've been experimenting today. I'm actually wearing skinny jeans, and a gray shirt I found somewhere, and that's it. In other words, I'm wearing normal clothes. It feels so strange. It feels like I'm wearing a costume. No fairyish nothing. Not even legwarmers of any kind. Just totally normal and boring and it's kind of exciting. I feel like an undercover. Not really sure undercover what though.

A Boutique That DIDN'T Make My Husband Want to Puke

About once a week me and my hubby go on a date. This means that we do something special that I want to do :D Here in downtown Boston I wanted to walk down the Newbury Street and visit a thousand high fashion shops along the way, such as Valentino, DKNY and Chanel - for the first time in my life and for no specific reason other than that.

My favorites at Betsey Johnson. The jacket has fake fur, otherwise it wouldn't be a favorite..
Betsey Johnson was delightful with pink ballerina lace dresses and other colorful creations, and the Hempest, selling hemp clothing, managed to entertain my husband with their wide and imaginative glass pipe collection. Not that he really has use for them, he's just always fascinated with them.

Our journey continued to Marc Jacobs and a few other shops that all, according to my husband, made him want to puke. "The artificial greetings" and "stuck up moods" in these shops were "simply obnoxious". So I was plenty surprised when leaving Matsu, another small but expensive shop, he commented on their pleasant ambience created by incense fragrances and "an old house feel". He liked their displays too, or "the stuff they were not selling but was there just to take up space". Of course, "the clothes were stupid".

Matsu store. This pic and the one below from their blog.
Matsu Fairies
So well done Matsu, the only shop that doesn't make your husband want to puke! How's that for the next advertising campaign idea? Perhaps? Haha!

Next weekend's date looks something like this at the moment: Xango, a night of infinite magic. Let's see if we make it to NYC by Saturday!

PS. If anyone wants to buy something from the Hempest online store, I can give you a coupon that gives you a 10% discount, just ask :) My email is omyourself@gmail.com
